We need a place to meet
Felixstowe Bored Kids
We have been trying to find a place to meet for so long. We knew that the old LIX'S night club had been shut down. i remember it when it was opened as a night club. i remember it when it was a hotel, I am not willing to say how far back i remember it as a hotel but lets say it was a long long time ago,
The building go's back to 1887 and there is an order to make the area that the hotel stands on a conservation area in June it go's before the local town council. Who knows.
As the local council tends to favor older things i hope it will pass.
As the company that owns the building (Thornlane homes) wants to pull it down.
A few things about the building.
As it stands it is a 3 floored building over looking the sea on the main seafront road of Felixstowe a seaside town and it stands in the real town of Felixstowe as it was set up in 1860 by col Tombin. apart from a screed that has been put on the outside of the front of the building and many things that have been change on the inside to fit in with what the building was being used for at the time it stands as it was built.
It is in a part of town that has already got allot of empty shops a new superstore being built, and many empty holiday flats near to an area set aside for 157 new flats as part of a sheltered housing project.
THORNLANE HOMES PLANS
Are to knock down the building and build a 4 floored building with a new shop and restaurant. 2 residential flats and 13 holiday flats.
FELIXSTOWE BORED KIDS PLAN
We want to keep the building as it is or return the outside to the way it was and it would give us a place to be safe warm and out of trouble. To turn 1 half on the ground floor in to a lazer wars area for every one to use including tourist. the other half would be a music hall and a hall that could be used for things like boxing, keep fit, dance, a local band/talent night on a sat night and much more. All of which could be used by anyone. The 2nd floor half of it would be our club house for members only with pool tables, table tennis tables, quite area, dance mats, coffee shop, etc: The other half of this floor would be an art gallery for local artists to show their work this would be open to anyone who wanted to view or show their work.
The 3rd floor is where we would have small rooms that we would have things like craft rooms, I.T. rooms, training rooms, meeting rooms, these are the places that we would learn how we can give back some thing to the world.
We have tried to contact Thornlane homes and offered to rent/lease the building from them but we have not had a reply.
If anyone has any ideas as to how we can push our ideas further please please contact us as we seem to just banging our heads against a brick wall,
